Elon Musk became the world’s first trillionaire as SpaceX prepared to make its public-market debut following the largest initial public offering in U.S. history.

SpaceX priced its IPO at $135 per share, raising $75 billion through the sale of approximately 555.6 million shares. The offering valued the rocket, satellite and artificial intelligence company at roughly $1.77 trillion.

The valuation dramatically increased the value of Musk’s holdings in the company. His stake in SpaceX was estimated to be worth approximately $866 billion, helping push his total net worth to around $1.1 trillion.

The milestone placed Musk significantly ahead of other members of the world’s wealthiest ranks, including Google co-founder Larry Page and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison.

SpaceX has grown from a privately funded rocket startup into a major player in several industries. The company operates reusable rockets, provides satellite internet through Starlink and has become an important contractor for NASA and the U.S. government.

SpaceX has also expanded its ambitions beyond traditional aerospace. Its business increasingly encompasses satellite communications and artificial intelligence, while Musk has continued pursuing projects across several other companies involving electric vehicles, robotics, brain-computer interfaces, tunneling and semiconductor manufacturing.

The IPO adds another chapter to Musk’s history of attracting investors to businesses pursuing unusually ambitious technological goals. His companies have frequently received valuations reflecting expectations of substantial future growth rather than their current financial results.

SpaceX reported approximately $18.7 billion in revenue for 2025, an increase of about 33% from the previous year, while recording a net loss of roughly $4.9 billion. Despite those losses, investors valued the company at nearly $1.8 trillion in the offering.

SpaceX shares were scheduled to begin trading on the Nasdaq following the historic offering, opening one of the world’s largest privately held technology companies to public investors for the first time.
