Governor Gavin Newsom is currently facing significant backlash related to the management of the Los Angeles wildfires, which have been devastating in their impact. Here's a summary of the key issues:

There have been allegations that Newsom ordered the removal of Elon Musk from a fire command post and the return of donated Starlink devices, claims which Newsom has denied. Additionally, there's contention over the state's water management, with accusations that reservoirs were not properly utilized for firefighting, although Newsom has clarified these are misrepresentations of the state's water policy.

Newsom has been criticized for previous budget cuts to wildfire prevention, notably a $101 million reduction in the state's wildfire and forest resilience fund in the latest budget. This has been highlighted by critics as a contributing factor to the severity of the current wildfires, especially in light of the state's history of fire management issues.

Newsom signed an executive order to ease rebuilding restrictions for wildfire victims, which has been misinterpreted by some as enabling land grabs by developers. This order aimed to streamline the process for affected homeowners but has sparked debate on how such decisions are communicated and managed.

The political fallout includes calls for Newsom's resignation or recall, with critics arguing his administration's preparedness and response to the fires have been inadequate. This is coupled with President-elect Donald Trump's public criticisms, labeling the management of the fires as "all his fault" and using the situation to highlight his ongoing feud with Newsom.

There's considerable frustration reflected by Californians who have criticized Newsom for prioritizing environmental policies over practical fire management strategies like prescribed burns and brush clearing. The sentiment also extends to the perceived inadequacy of the water supply for firefighting efforts.

The situation underscores a complex interplay of policy, environmental management, and political accountability, with the effectiveness of Newsom's administration during this crisis being hotly debated.
