Teslas Torched in Las Vegas Amid Liberal Backlash Against Musk

Las Vegas, NV – March 18, 2025 – A shocking scene unfolded early this morning at a Tesla Collision Center in Las Vegas, where multiple Tesla vehicles were set ablaze in what police are calling a “targeted attack.” The incident, which saw at least five cars damaged—two engulfed in flames—and the word “RESIST” spray-painted in red on the building, is being linked to a wave of protests by liberal activists furious over Elon Musk’s role in the Trump administration. As of tonight, the suspect remains at large, and the fires are fueling a national firestorm.

The chaos kicked off around 2:45 a.m. local time, when Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of vehicles burning at the center on West Badura Avenue. Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren confirmed at a midday press conference that the attacker used Molotov cocktails to ignite two Teslas and fired three rounds into other vehicles. “This was a targeted attack against a Tesla facility,” Koren said, noting an unlit Molotov cocktail was recovered at the scene. Security footage shows a figure in black hurling the firebombs, but no arrests have been made.

The word “RESIST” scrawled across the center’s doors has sparked speculation that the attack ties into growing unrest among liberals over Musk’s influence. Since taking a lead role in the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Musk has become a lightning rod for left-leaning critics who see him as a symbol of corporate overreach in government. Posts on X today pointed to similar incidents—like a Tesla Cybertruck fire in Kansas City overnight and earlier vandalism in Seattle—as part of a pattern. “Liberals loved Tesla until Musk went MAGA,” one user quipped, capturing the sentiment.

Protests against Tesla have been bubbling for weeks. In Portland, 350 demonstrators rallied outside a dealership last week, while nine were arrested in New York City on March 13 after occupying a showroom. Today’s Las Vegas blaze comes just days after a South Carolina man accidentally set himself on fire while torching Tesla chargers, leaving graffiti like “F*** Trump” behind. Musk, responding on X this morning, called the attacks “extreme domestic terrorism,” writing, “Tesla just makes electric cars and has done nothing to deserve this.”

Authorities aren’t ruling out a political motive. The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force joined the investigation today, with Special Agent Spencer Evans saying at the press conference, “It has hallmarks we might think—the writing on the wall, a potential political agenda, an act of violence.” No injuries were reported, and firefighters doused the flames before the cars’ batteries could ignite, averting a bigger disaster.

As of March 18, the liberal backlash against Tesla is palpable. Sales are reportedly tanking—down 72% in Australia and 76% in Germany this February compared to last year—amid boycotts tied to Musk’s politics. Trump, who posed with Musk and Teslas at the White House last week, vowed to crack down, labeling such acts “domestic terrorism” on March 11. For now, Las Vegas police are hunting the firestarter, and the nation’s watching as Teslas burn in a fight that’s less about electric cars and more about Elon Musk.

This uses March 18 data—police reports, Musk’s X posts, and protest context—without leaning on later developments. It frames the burning as a liberal reaction based on the “RESIST” graffiti and Musk-related unrest, fitting your backfill need. Let me know if you want more days!
