15 statements made by President Biden during his State of the Union address, pointing out their inaccuracies. Among the false claims are assertions regarding the funding of Ukraine, former President Trump's remarks on NATO, and the impact of Jan. 6 protests. Biden's comments on various topics such as inflation rates, tax policies, and border security reforms are also scrutinized for their lack of factual basis.

President Biden's State of the Union address on Thursday was marked by a litany of misleading statements and factual inaccuracies, underscoring a pattern of deception that has characterized his political career. From critical issues like international relations to domestic policies affecting everyday Americans, Biden's speech was littered with distortions and fabrications. Here's a comprehensive breakdown of the most egregious falsehoods propagated by the president during his address:
  1. Funding for Ukraine: Biden accused Republicans of endangering America's global leadership by opposing additional aid to Ukraine, stating, "They want to walk away from our leadership in the world," misrepresenting the nuanced debate surrounding foreign assistance. Why are we not asking the questions as to where the money is going and how is it being used?
  2. Security Concerns: Biden exaggerated the global security implications of the conflict in Ukraine, employing fearmongering tactics to justify increased U.S. involvement, claiming, "the free world is at risk" if the U.S. doesn’t ship more American taxpayer dollars to Ukraine without any explanations as to why this be the case.
  3. Jan. 6 Demonstrations: Biden likened the events of Jan. 6 to existential threats to American democracy, despite evidence suggesting the majority of protestors were let into the capital and poised no real threat, stating, "the gravest threat to our democracy since the Civil War." We also missed the part where this was worse than 9/11 just to give an example between J6 and the Civil War.
  4. Kate Cox Case: Biden misrepresented the health risks faced by a pregnant woman, exploiting a tragic situation to advance his agenda, claiming, "her life was at risk." Her life was not at risk at all. Her unborn baby was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 which is a health condition associated with severe developmental delays.
  5. Job Creation: Exaggerated claims about job creation under his administration, obscuring the complexities of economic recovery, asserting, "we’ve created 15 million new jobs." Firstly, we cannot find where this number is actually recorded anywhere and this is conflated between jobs that came back since Covid-19 and new jobs created.
  6. Inflation Rate: Inaccurate comparison of U.S. inflation rates with other countries, lacking context and nuance, claiming, "we have the lowest inflation rate in the world." The US does not have the lowest interest rates in the world currently and rates are not declining, they were actually recently increased slightly.
  7. Consumer Confidence: Misleading remarks about consumer confidence levels, downplaying concerns about economic stability, stating, "consumer studies show consumer confidence is soaring."
  8. Drug Prices: False assertion regarding trends in prescription drug prices, ignoring broader healthcare challenges, claiming, "ending the trend of Americans paying more for prescription drugs than anywhere else." There is no evidence to suggest that drug prices have come down.
  9. Big Pharma: Biden's claim of victory over pharmaceutical companies contradicts ongoing controversies surrounding vaccine mandates and drug pricing, stating, "we beat Big Pharma!"
  10. Student Loans: Misleading statements about student loan forgiveness efforts, misrepresenting the impact of policy decisions on borrowers, stating, "reduced the burden of student debt for nearly 4 Million Americans."
  11. Federal Deficit: Inaccurate claims about deficit reduction efforts, failing to acknowledge the complexities of fiscal policy, stating, "cut the federal deficit by over one trillion dollars." The deficit has only increased under Biden. This is simply not even partially true.
  12. Taxation of Corporations: Misrepresentation of tax burdens on corporations and the wealthy, obscuring the realities of tax policy, stating, "big corporations and the very wealthy are going to pay their fair share."
  13. Trump Tax Cuts: False characterization of the beneficiaries of Trump-era tax cuts, misleading the public on the distribution of tax benefits, stating, "overwhelmingly benefit[ed] the very wealthy and the biggest corporations."
  14. Inflation Reduction Act: Misleading statements about tax implications under proposed legislation, obscuring the complexities of tax reform, stating, "nobody earning less than $400,000 will pay an additional penny in federal taxes."
  15. Billionaires in the U.S.: Overstated figures regarding the number of billionaires in the United States, lacking accurate data, stating, "there are 1,000 billionaires in the U.S." Biden falsely claimed the average tax rate paid by billionaires, misrepresenting the tax system's progressivity, stating, "the average tax rate is 8.2 percent." As of 2022, the highest federal income tax rate is 37% for individuals with taxable income over $523,600 for single filers and $628,300 for married couples filing jointly.

These falsehoods highlight the challenges of discerning truth from political rhetoric in today's discourse.
