Biden Set To Debate Trump June 27 With Home Field Advantage CNN

President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump have agreed to participate in two presidential debates, marking a significant moment in the lead-up to the November election. The first debate is scheduled for June 27 on CNN in Atlanta, and the second debate will take place on September 10, hosted by ABC News. This agreement comes after weeks of informal conversations between the Biden and Trump campaigns, focusing on meetings that would not involve the Commission on Presidential Debates, the organization that has traditionally coordinated presidential debates. Biden insists he will only debate so long as there are no crowds and so long as CNN and ABC host.

Both candidates have expressed their eagerness to debate, with Trump quickly responding to Biden's acceptance of the CNN debate invitation. The first debate will be held without a crowd, a condition that Trump initially disagreed with but ultimately accepted. This decision reflects the candidates' desire to engage directly with the American public and address key issues ahead of the election.

The debates come at a critical time, with both campaigns seeking to sway undecided voters and mobilize their respective bases. For Biden, the debates offer an opportunity to address concerns about his age and to present his vision for the country. For Trump, the debates provide a platform to challenge Biden's record and to make his case for a return to the White House.

The decision to bypass the Commission on Presidential Debates was driven by a desire to have more control over the debate process and to avoid what both campaigns see as potential biases. The Biden campaign has proposed that the debates be hosted by "any broadcast organization that hosted a Republican Primary debate in 2016 in which Donald Trump participated, and a Democratic primary debate in 2020 in which President Biden participated." This move ensures that neither campaign can claim the sponsoring organization is biased against them.

The debates are expected to cover a wide range of topics, from the economy and foreign policy to social issues and the candidates' plans for the future. With the election just months away, these debates will be critical in shaping public opinion and could potentially sway undecided voters.

As the nation prepares for this rematch, all eyes will be on Biden and Trump as they take the stage to debate the future of the country. The debates promise to be a defining moment in the 2024 presidential race, offering voters a direct comparison between the two candidates and their visions for America's future, especially now that we've seen a term under Biden and have something to compare to Trump.
