Elon Musk Floats The Idea Of Buying Disney

Disney is facing significant challenges as of late. Recently, an actress filed a major sex-discrimination lawsuit against the century-old movie studio, with financial support from billionaire Elon Musk. Additionally, Musk was spotted in Los Angeles alongside activist investor Nelson Peltz, who is keen on acquiring The Walt Disney Co. and wresting control from CEO Bob Iger.

During the red-carpet premiere of "Lola," Musk casually mentioned that he was considering potential acquisitions while attending the event with Peltz. Peltz's has had past interest in purchasing Disney and it stems from his belief that the current management team is leading the company downhill.

The latest earnings report revealed a significant downturn in content sales and licensing revenue, dropping by 38% compared to the previous year. The report attributed the increase in operating loss to the performance of films like "The Marvels" and "Wish" in the current quarter. Disney's deviation from its family-friendly image, in favor of promoting more progressive, left-leaning narratives, has been cited as a major factor contributing to the underperformance of these films.

The company's decision to fire actor Gina Carano from the "Mandalorian" series following a controversial tweet further exemplifies its focus on "woke" messaging, to the dismay of many fans. Depending on what this trial and possibly others to come does to Disney's image could drive the stock down just enough for Elon and Peltz to purchase similar to Elon's takeover of X, formerly known as Twitter.
