Jeff Bezos Sold 36M Shares Of Amazon Stock This Month Totaling $6.15B

This month has seen Jeff Bezos actively divesting a significant portion of his Amazon stock holdings.

According to filings submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Amazon founder and executive chairman has conducted three separate sales, totaling nearly 36 million shares. These transactions, carried out across six different days, amounted to a collective value of $6.15 billion.

​While the exact motive behind Bezos's stock sales remains undisclosed, the SEC filings link them to a trading plan established by Bezos as an insider of the company. This trading plan, unveiled by Amazon in early November, allows for the sale of up to 50 million shares by January 25 of the following year, with an estimated aggregate market value exceeding $8.4 billion.

Despite these recent sales, Bezos still retains a substantial stake in Amazon, comprising approximately 952.26 million shares as of Thursday, as indicated by a separate SEC filing. These stock transactions coincide with a period of notable activity for Bezos, including announcements of personal moves and an engagement.
