At UFC 302, Russian UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov met with former U.S. President Donald Trump and urged him to stop the conflict in Palestine. The interaction, which took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on June 1, 2024, was met with a standing ovation from the audience.

Nurmagomedov, a prominent figure in the mixed martial arts world, took the opportunity to address the ongoing conflict in Gaza during his meeting with Trump. "I know you're gonna stop all this Palestine war," he said, to which Trump responded positively, stating, "We're gonna stop it. I'm gonna stop it."

The statement sparked discussions on social media, with users expressing both skepticism and hope regarding Trump's commitment to ending the conflict. Some users pointed out the complexity of the situation, while others expressed optimism that the former president could bring about a resolution if elected in 2024.

The Israel-Hamas War, which began on October 7, has resulted in a significant loss of life, with at least 1,000 people in Israel and more than 30,000 in Palestine reported dead. The international community has been calling for a ceasefire and a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Trump's appearance at UFC 302 was one of the first times he has been seen publicly since being convicted this week of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. The former president stepped into the arena with UFC President Dana White, greeting comedian Theo Von as he made his way to his seat. The crowd welcomed him with thunderous applause, and Trump shook the hands of some of the fans.

As the world watches the situation in Gaza closely, Nurmagomedov's plea to Trump has added a new dimension to the ongoing debate about the conflict. Only time will tell if Trump's commitment will lead to a resolution, but the meeting at UFC 302 has certainly brought the issue to the forefront of public discourse once again.
