The New York Rangers have swept the Washington Capitals in the first round of the NHL playoffs, becoming the first team to advance to the second round. The Rangers' dominance was evident throughout the series, with their victory in Game 4 sealing the deal in a 4-2 win at Capital One Arena.

Artemi Panarin scored the go-ahead goal on the power play early in the third period, solidifying their lead and ultimately securing the victory. Igor Shesterkin made 23 saves, demonstrating his prowess in goal and contributing to the Rangers' success.

The Rangers' win over the Capitals was their first sweep since 2007, showcasing their depth and determination to finally get the job done with this young group. Throughout the series, ten different Rangers players scored goals, highlighting the team's impressive roster and ability to rely on multiple players to step up and make a difference.

Notably, the Rangers' power play was a significant factor in their victory, with three power-play goals in Game 4 alone. This performance is a testament to the team's adaptability and effectiveness in crucial moments.

The Rangers managed to keep Ovechkin off the scoreboard in the series, limiting his impact and contributing to their success.

With this victory, the Rangers advance to a second-round date with the winner of the series between the Islanders and the Carolina Hurricanes. As they prepare for their next challenge, the Rangers have set a high bar for the rest of the playoffs and demonstrated their potential to go far in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
